The Restoration Technical Institute Welcomes Industry Expert Chuck Boutall

This announcement highlights the appointment of Chuck Boutall as Director of Education at the Restoration Technical Institute. With decades of experience in large-loss drying, equipment engineering, and industry education, Boutall brings significant technical expertise to RTI’s expanding curriculum. His background in manufacturing desiccant systems, authoring industry standards, and speaking at major restoration events reinforces RTI’s mission to provide high-level, hands-on training that develops skilled, confident leaders in restoration and insurance services.

The Restoration Technical Institute Welcomes Industry Expert Chuck Boutall

The Restoration Technical Institute (RTI) proudly announces that industry expert Chuck Boutall has joined the organization as Director of Education.

With decades of hands-on restoration experience and a strong background in equipment engineering and large-loss drying, Boutall brings technical depth and instructional expertise that will further strengthen RTI’s curriculum and hands-on training programs.

“Chuck brings years of practical experience that will help us evolve and expand our curriculums in our service to the industry,” said Lisa Lavender, COO of Restoration Technical Institute. “He is a high-energy and knowledgeable restoration professional and educator who will be an incredible resource for those who train with us.”

A Leader in Large-Loss Drying and Equipment Application

After building and selling Air Quest Systems — a respected manufacturer of custom desiccant dehumidifiers, large refrigerant dehumidifiers, and portable air conditioning systems — Boutall shifted his focus toward training restoration professionals in the effective use of large-scale drying equipment.

Over his 20 year career as an Application Engineer, he has:

  • Dried more than 4 million square feet of structure
  • Restored hundreds of thousands of books and documents
  • Designed permanent environmental control systems for manufacturing and storage facilities
  • Served as a contributing author to the IICRC S500 Standard

Boutall has been a featured speaker at numerous industry events, including:

  • Dri-Eaz Restorative Drying Symposiums
  • Water Loss Institute
  • ASCR National
  • Connections East and West
  • SCRIA (2012–2015)
  • DRC Canada

His ability to simplify complex subjects — particularly psychrometrics and desorption principles — has made him a sought-after educator in the restoration industry.

“I like to see the light bulbs going on,” said Boutall. “When you can take a complex subject like psychrometrics and make it easy to understand, you see the confidence build. It’s a privilege to pass along knowledge that helps others become better dryers.”

Strengthening RTI’s Educational Mission

Boutall’s appointment reinforces RTI’s commitment to delivering high-level technical education paired with hands-on application.

The Restoration Technical Institute’s mission is to provide opportunities, training, and resources that empower restoration and insurance professionals worldwide to succeed. With a state-of-the-art training facility and instruction from industry leaders, RTI focuses on:

  • Technical excellence
  • Customer service development
  • Safety and compliance training
  • Leadership growth

By combining classroom instruction with real-world scenarios, RTI prepares professionals to serve as leaders in their organizations and the industry at large.

The addition of Chuck Boutall as Director of Education marks an important step forward in continuing to raise the standard of technical training within the restoration industry.

The Lever360 Platform

Three levers. Pull all three and the whole company moves.

Lever360 is three products built around the same restoration job. Software runs the operation. Learning Lever trains the team. RTI certifies the trade. Use one. Use all three — they compound.

Software is one lever

You're running the company here. The other two make it compound.

Software runs the operation — every job, crew, dollar and conversation lives here. Add Learning Lever and RTI and the same techs ramp faster, bill higher, and stay longer. One lever moves the company. Three move it harder.

Learning Lever is one lever

You're training the team here. The other two make the training stick.

Learning Lever onboards faster and keeps the whole team sharp. Software is where that training shows up in the work. RTI is where it becomes a credential customers trust. Pull one — pull all three and the math compounds.

RTI is one lever

You're certifying the trade here. The other two carry the credential to the field.

RTI certifies the trade — IICRC WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT and beyond. Software runs the company those certified techs work for. Learning Lever ramps everyone in between. One lever moves things. Three move the whole crew.

Bundled Pricing

Customers who run Software + Learning Lever together save 22% and onboard techs 3× faster.
